We started our Easter crafts this past weekend with a watercolour Easter Egg banner. This was fun and easy to do and looks great and festive hanging up. All you need are a few simple materials:
- Watercolour paints (we love Stockmar)
- Watercolour paint pad
- Easter Egg template (you can easily cut one out of card stock or use a free printable like this one from Crafts on Sea – plus, how fun is the wreath?)
- String, yarn or ribbon
- Tape
First, I set K up with his painting session and he just had fun free painting whatever he wanted. He prefers to fill up the whole page with colour, which is perfect for this particular craft.
Then we let them dry. After they were dry, I used an Easter egg template cut out of card stock to trace numerous eggs out on the pages.
We cut them out and K filled up the “Easter basket” with eggs.
Then we taped them evenly on a piece of yarn and…voila! A simple, watercolour Easter egg banner that looks great hung just about anywhere. He was so pleased with it, and I love it too. Watercolour painting is one of our favourite activities and when you can combine it with a simple festive craft, it makes it even more fun.
