Visiting Steed & Company Lavender Farm

September 5, 2015 By Megan Leave a Comment

We recently had the opportunity to visit a gorgeous lavender farm just outside of the city in which we live. They were hosting their annual fairy festival, so it seemed like the perfect time to go. From a gorgeous field filled with fresh lavender (so relaxing that baby K fell fast asleep), to local organic lavender ice cream sandwiches, it was the best way to spend a summer sunday afternoon. Steed & Company Lavender farm is part of a 45-acre horse farm and contains many varieties of English lavender. It is nestled at the edge of a spectacular Carolinian forest in little Sparta, Ontario. They also have a little boutique, where they sell a variety of handmade lavender-related items. I picked up a lavender sachet to place under our pillows as well as the most delicious lavender honey (it makes the absolute best cup of earl grey tea). They also have cookies, jams and jellies, teas and other items. We had so much fun visiting Steed & Company Lavender farm.

Upon entering, we were greeted with this adorable sign.

Sweet little fairy houses and hidden doors adorned the mini forest beside the lavender fields.

How can you not be instantly relaxed with fields of fragrant lavender? It’s so gorgeous there.

The event suggested that the kids could dress up as fairies or pirates, so K chose the pirate route. The main fairy led the way for the little fairies and my pirate.

There were some fun crafts and activities for the kids, including this huge bowl of fresh lavender, where they could make their own lavender sachets. K loved just digging his hand in the bowl and I don’t blame him one bit!

Where the bees live. The lavender honey we purchased from the shop on site is insanely delicious, thanks to these hardworking creatures.

The lavender kitchen garden. K may have eaten fresh herbs straight out of here. Shhh, don’t tell.

We left Steed feeling relaxed after a fun afternoon, and we’ll definitely be back soon. On my new wish list is to one day live on a lavender farm. It’s so peaceful here. I definitely recommend making a day trip out of it and exploring the cute town of Sparta while you’re there.

Making Time for Mom

Alone time. What’s that? If you’re a mom, you’re quite possible in the same boat as me. Some days, okay, most days, I feel like my needs come last in the whole scheme of things. From the second our eyes open in the morning, it’s all about the kids. Getting everyone changed and fed, answering 800… [Read More]
